We are encountering difficulties activating the PKP Preservation Network (PLN) for our journal. Although the plugin is enabled and the Terms of Use accepted, our OJS dashboard continues to display the following message:
“Network Status: The PKP PLN does not know about this journal yet.”
We expected the journal to be recognized by the PLN after completing the setup and filling in all required metadata.
Steps I took leading up to the issue
-
Navigated to Settings > Journal > Masthead and filled in all required fields (ISSNs, publisher, country, etc.).
-
Enabled the PKP PN Plugin under the Plugin Gallery.
-
Accepted the Terms of Use in the plugin settings.
-
Verified that the journal is fully functional and publishing content.
-
Checked the PLN status in the dashboard, which still shows: “The PKP PLN does not know about this journal yet.”
What application are you using?
-
Open Journal Systems (OJS) 3.4.0-7
-

Additional information
-
We are hosting several other new journals under the same publisher account on this OJS installation.
-
Similar cases were reported in this PKP Forum thread: “Network Status: The PKP PLN does not know about this journal yet”.
-
In that discussion, PKP staff mentioned a backend issue preventing new journals from being recognized and manually approved journals such as MUSIQUES and Lessons Learned.
-
We kindly request that ASIDE Internal Medicine (and, if possible, our other journals under the same publisher account) be manually approved for inclusion in the PLN while the backend issue is resolved.
-
No error logs appear on our side; the plugin activates correctly, but the PLN status remains unchanged.
Could PKP staff please manually approve our journal for the PKP PLN, as was done for other journals in the linked thread?
Thank you very much for your continued support in ensuring preservation for OJS journals.
Best regards,
Mahmoud
