Keywords and compulsory metadata OJS 3

Hi

One of our journals wants to make the keywords field a compulsory metadata field when submitting articles in OJS 3. Currently the abstract and title are the only compulsory fields. Editors can choose what submission metadata is enabled/ included on the submission form under workflow settings but is it possible/ will it be possible in the future for editors to choose/create compulsory submission metadata fields?

With that in mind I saw this conversation and the one on github (refer link). We’re on OJS 3.0.2.0 and yet to see the key words on the article page yet. Is this any closer to happening?

Thank you

Hi @Tuwpub,

The ability to declare fields compulsory would probably be a useful feature.

On display of keywords, the github issue (Issues with input and display of keywords · Issue #1828 · pkp/pkp-lib · GitHub) is the best way to keep track of developments, though that one is getting quite long.

Generally speaking, whether certain elements are displayed can often be a theme issue – you may want to try writing up a child theme that augments the default display with additional elements. However, it is very likely that future releases will add keywords to the built-in themes.
