Just a guess: Maybe this problem is related to the wrong namespace declaration in the sitemap?

Describe the issue or problem I am trying to upload my OJS-based website’s sitemap to Google Console for indexing on Google Search and Scholar. However, I receive the following error from Google: Your Sitemap or Sitemap index file doesn’t properly declare the namespace. Steps I took leading up to the issue Go to OJS Sitemap URL.
