Describe the problem you would like to solve
On OMP, in the publication format section, metadata subsection, there is 2 fields to indicate front matter and back matter page counts, but nothing for the global page count of the volume.
Describe the solution you’d like
I guess a solution could be to add the field “Volume global page count” in the metadata subsection. This information could be displayed in front office together with the other metadata as ISBN13 and physical dimensions.
Who is asking for this feature?
This feature could be used by all volume publishers using OMP who publish physical books but I guess also by journal publishers using OJS who sale physical copies of their journal issues. It seems a basic information for readers who could want to buy physical volumes.
Additional information
A screenshot of the back office there:
Are you looking to collect total page counts in order to deliver them via ONIX to an indexer? Or is this data that you’d like to present e.g. on the public-facing catalog?
(Much of the metadata collected by OMP is for the sake of feeding the ONIX standard, including these two fields. They are not presented elsewhere. OJS’s implementation of page numbering is different, and would probably remain that way, given the differences between monograph and journal page numbering.)

The relevant ONIX list is List 23; currently we’re feeding the “Front Matter” data into field 00 (“Main content page count”) and the “Back Matter” data into field 04 (“Back matter page count”).
(I think the choice of 00 for Front Matter may be incorrect; field 03 looks more accurate for the label.)
Which of the additional fields are you proposing to add? (Which are relevant to you?)

06 “production page count” (“The total number of pages in a book, including unnumbered pages, front matter, back matter, etc. This includes any extracts or ‘teaser’ material from other works, and blank pages at the back that carry no content and are present only for convenience of printing and binding”)
07 “Absolute page count” (only for digital books)
And if you say that 00 "Main content page count” already exists but with the wrong name, it could be just be renamed.
For fields 03 “Front matter page count” and 04 “Back matter page count”, I guess they could be a plus but are not necessary. Anyway, in my organization we don’t need them but I don’t know the other publishers’ opinion.
