Submission preview no longer showing galley links, references, or some other metadata [OJS 3.3.0.14]

I’ve got a journal in OJS 3.3.0.14 and have found that article previews for this journal are now missing the galley links, the reference metadata, and all of the content that goes into the right sidebar (citation, license, and section info).

We checked previews for four submissions in Production status that included galleys and reference metadata: 3 of these were assigned to an open issue that had already been published, and the metadata missing from the preview appeared when one of the submissions was published (the editor isn’t ready to publish the other 2 yet). The 4th submission had been assigned to a Future Issue, and I note that the submission doesn’t show up in the preview for the issue, either. I have double-checked that all of the submissions do actually include completed metadata and galley files.

The journal runs the default template.

Any idea what’s causing this, or how to resolve?

Hi @tmrozewski,

I suspect you’re encountering a fatal PHP error, which should be logged in the PHP error log. Can you check there for details?

@asmecher will do, thanks. We also upgraded to 3.3.0.15 this morning and noticed that the previews now return a 500 error in the browser. Would you expect that this also relates to the PHP error?

Hi @tmrozewski,

Yes, that would also indicate that there’s a PHP error logged. The next step would be to access the log for specifics.

@asmecher groovy, thanks. Just escalated this to my IT support. Thanks for your help with this.

@asmecher figured it out - FYI it was the Paperbuzz plugin causing the error, calling a method that no longer exists. Thanks again for your help.
