Security issue - antivirus check on files uploaded by authors

He, I have been notified by an editor that a file submitted by authors is infected by a trojan. Is there any suggestions on how to avoid this problem?
I frankly downloaded it on mac and never noticed anything…
We use an OJS installation with 3.3.0.13.
Thank you for any suggestions!!

Hi @lsteele,

This is usually managed with a server-side antivirus scanner. There’s no special need for an OJS integration for that tool (as long as the antivirus tool scans the OJS files directory, you should be covered) but there is also an OJS plugin for the Clam antivirus tool. It’s in the Plugin Gallery and compatible with OJS 3.3.0-x. For details, see:

SOLVED. NEED TO INSTALLA CLAM AV SERVER SIDE FIRST.

Hi, thanks Alex, I installed the plugin. My question is about the warning.
Is something not right with the installation/configuration or is this the message to notify that the files are infected (which they are…)? I ask because I need to inform authors accordingly.
Thanks anyone!
L.
