REVIEW_REMIND_AUTO_ONECLICK email being sent in error

Hi!

We have a multiple-journal OJS installation and recently two journals on the platform have had the same problem with the REVIEW_REMIND_AUTO_ONECLICK email. In both cases, a reviewer had sent in their review on time, and several days after the review was received, this email was sent automatically by the system.

In both cases, the activity log for the manuscripts in question did not show that the email had been sent.

Any ideas what may be causing this problem and what to do to fix it (other than disabling the email entirely)?

I note in the description for the email template “Scheduled tasks must be enabled and configured (see the site configuration file).” Maybe something is incorrectly configured there? If so, any tips on what to look for and possibly change?

I thought maybe this was a bug that had been fixed since I posted a year ago, but it has just popped up again for one of our journals. This time the REVIEW_REQUEST_REMIND_AUTO_ONECLICK email is behaving strangely. A reviewer was asked to complete a review and accepted via the system (verified in the activity log), but one day after her due date to reply to the request, the automatic email was sent. And again, no record of the automatic email in the activity log. The email was forwarded to me, so I know it was sent, even though it was not recorded in the log.

Anyone have any ideas about why this is happening and how to fix it?
