PKP Preservation Network problem

Hi,

we have configured the PKP PN plugin on our OJS 3.3 platform.
The scheduled task runs correctly and the server can connect to PKP PN successfully. However, all journals return the following log message:
The PKP PN is not currently accepting deposits.
The issue affects all journals on the platform.

Example log:

[Notice] Depositor processing for …
[Notice] Getting service document.
[Notice] The PKP PN is not currently accepting deposits.

Additional information:

  • HTTPS and SSL verified
  • CURL connectivity works correctly
  • PING to lib-pkppln.dc.sfu.ca works correctly
  • No records created in pln_deposits
  • Multiple journals affected
  • Scheduled tasks execute correctly

Could you please verify whether the platform/journals need to be manually activated or whitelisted on the PKP PN side?

Regards

Janels

Hi @janels,

Could you please provide your journal title and ISSN?

Thank you @rcgillis for your reply. I am providing the link to the platform. This concerns all journals hosted on this journal platform: https://journals.uafm.edu.pl/

Hi @rcgillis

Has your team been able to verify whether the journals from the list are on the whitelist, and whether the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) is currently experiencing any issues with accepting new content for deposit?

Thanks for all the information.

Janels

@jonasraoni,

Are you able to speak to this one?

Hi, @rcgillis @jonasraoni

It has already been 12 days, and neither I nor, as I can see, other PKP PN users have received any explanation regarding the issue causing the following message to appear:

[2026-06-07 13:31:00] [Notice] The PKP PN is not currently accepting deposits.

Could you please provide an update on the situation and let us know whether this is a temporary service issue or if there is a problem with our configuration?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Janels

Hi @janels,

The PKP PN is attempting to request this URL from your server, but it has some “dirt” on the response (see image below): https://journals.uafm.edu.pl/kis/gateway/plugin/PLNGatewayPlugin

This text on the top is appearing on every request, it shouldn’t be there. Fix it and things should get back to normal (this might also generate other problems).

I don’t know the origin of the text (it could be defined at the “Distribution > Search Indexing” field of OJS or perhaps by a plugin).

I’ll close the topic.

Best,
Jonas Raoni
