PKP PN - Last step

Hello everyone,

I and our team have recently enabled the PKP PLN plugin to preserve one of our journal, hosted by OJS 3.3. It seems to be complete, as the journal is described as “Preserved” on the ISSN Portal : https://portal.issn.org/resource/ISSN/2555-6231. We firstly wondered if it really worked, as in the documentation, the screening shows “Archived” and not “Preserved” in the status. However, regarding this post and the answer of @jonasraoni, it is okay. If anyone knows why there is this difference, I would be glad to know it!

We now have a question about the last step mentioned in the documentation. Is is indeed written: “4. When all of the copies on the LOCKSS network are proven to be identical, the journal deletes the deposit in order to save storage space”. We do not understand very well this line. What does it mean, concretly? What do we have to do?

Thank you very much for your answer!

Best,
Marion

Erratum - Sorry, we use 3.2 for now, but our IT team is installing 3.3!

Hi @mbraud,

The https://portal.issn.org is part of another organization, so the terms they use can be different from us.

When all of the copies on the LOCKSS network are proven to be identical, the journal deletes the deposit in order to save storage space”. We do not understand very well this line. What does it mean, concretly?

A possibly large .zip file (the deposit) is created for each issue on your server and it’s kept there until the process is complete, this phrase is just stating that such files will be cleaned once the issue is preserved.

Best,
Jonas Raoni
