Title
PKP PN plugin cannot connect in multiple journals
The PKP PN plugin in Open Journal Systems cannot connect to the PKP Private LOCKSS Network. The system shows the message:
There was an error connecting to the PKP PN
Previously the plugin worked correctly. Recently the same error started appearing in all four journals hosted on the same server. The expected behaviour is that the journal registers normally after saving the PKP PN settings.
Steps I took leading up to the issue
Go to Settings → Distribution → Archiving → PKP PN
Open the PKP PN plugin settings
Confirm all Terms of Use checkboxes
Click Save
The system returns the error message:
There was an error connecting to the PKP PN
Application
Open Journal Systems 3.3.0-14
Additional information
The issue occurs in four journals hosted on the same server.
Server connectivity was tested using a PHP cURL request to https://pkp.sfu.ca which returned Connection OK.
Primary Contact is configured.
ISSN is configured.
License is CC Attribution 4.0.
The PKP PN plugin version is the latest version recommended for this OJS release.
In the plugin description it is stated:
“PKP PN Plugin – The PKP PN plugin will deposit your published content into the PKP Preservation Network.”
As a troubleshooting step, the PKP PN plugin was disabled and then enabled again, but the problem remains.
The error appears only when saving PKP PN plugin settings.
I also checked the PKP PN journal list using the URL:
https://pkp.sfu.ca/files/pkppn/onix.csv
The list contains three of our journals:
-
Pedagogy of Physical Culture and Sports
-
Physical Education of Students
-
Pedagogy of Health
However, the fourth journal is not present in the list:
- Physical Culture, Recreation and Rehabilitation
Please advise what may cause this connection error and whether there are any current issues with PKP PN connectivity or journal registration.
Thank you.
