I updated the text on the author guidelines page. In the browser, the revised text appears but is followed by previously deleted text that does not appear in the editor. I tried with another browser in case it was a caching issue but the same problem occurred. I also tried deleting all the text in the editor but the unwanted text still appears on the page.

Or, is it specifically the text that precedes that?

It is the text just within the author guidelines section. All the text after the Typescript paragraph has been previously deleted in the editor but still appears on the page when being viewed.
All sorted - apparently other optional sections get appended to that page but can’t be edited on it, so they appear to be part of the author guidelines but they are not, which is rather confusing, but I have now removed the text from those too.
