We are hoping to configure a username and password for automatically registering DOIs with CrossRef so that each of our journal editors can manage this process without needing to enter or know what the password is. We would like to do this in the interests of good password management. Can anyone advise on whether this is possible, and what we need to do to set it up?
Regarding the post I have just submitted, I also meant to say that we are using Open Journal Systems 2.4.6.0.
That should be possible – look at the CrossRef plugin’s settings form. You can enter a journal-wide set of CrossRef credentials, and these should then be used for the automatic deposit.
You may want to consider upgrading to a newer release of OJS 2.4.x, as OJS 2.4.6-0 is several releases behind.
