Is there a best practice formatting template for a word document which can be referred to for best results while using the Open Typesetting Stack tool? For example heading type, figure titles etc?

For the most part, our answer is deliberately no – we make an effort to parse a wide variety of documents based on our heuristics and training data extrapolated from real-world cases. That said, if you’re using Word input, the best advice I could give would be to actually make use of Word heading styles and captions rather than just doing your own bolding and indenting – we can make use of that internal syntax and you’re more likely to get a good parse.
