OJS removes tags <>

Hi everybody,
I have a problem with tags <> in bibliography.

Look at:
PUBLICISTIČKI DISKURS A.G. MATOŠA – OD STILA DO POLITIČKOG IMAGINARIJA
http://pressto.amu.edu.pl/index.php/pss/editor/submission/970

When I type:
Townsley E., 2001, The Sixties Trope, „Theory, Culture and Society” br. 6, http://tcs.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/18/6/99, 20.05.2009.

You can see the empty field:
Townsley E., 2001, The Sixties Trope, „Theory, Culture and Society” br. 6, , 20.05.2009.

So, OJS removes tags <>.

But what I can to do when in journal we use Turabian`s style.
Example:
Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Library. Progressive Architecture. 12:. 1955. http://digital.cincinnatilibrary.org/cdm/ref/collection/p16998coll14/id/28833.

Thanks
Peter

Hi @karwas,

Can you check your config.inc.php file, under allowed_html setting, and make sure you have “a[href|target|title]” there?

I tested here and I was able to add a link into the references field without a problem, but I have that setting configured that way.

Cheers,
Bruno

Hi,
Thanks for reply… Look at attachements.

Add: a[href|target|title] or remove <> ?
Peter

@karwas,

Which OJS version are you using?

Thanks,
Bruno

We have 2.4.5 (http://pressto.amu.edu.pl)

Ok, so I understand what happened. You upgraded from a previous version but you didn’t update the config.inc.php file. So your html tags are not updated for the new system. Delete your current allowed_html setting line and paste this one instead:

allowed_html = "<a href|target> <em> <strong> <cite> <code> <ul> <ol> <li> <dl> <dt> <dd> <b> <i> <u> <img src|alt> <sup> <sub> <br> <p>"

Make sure that, if you have any other html that you want to allow, that you add that following the new pattern.

Cheers,
Bruno

Bruno,
But your allowed_html is the same like in my config.inc.php…
Are you sure - It`s correct?
P.

@karwas,

You’re right. I overlooked your setting, it seems it is ok.

Can you paste here the exact html code of your reference? Please, use the preformatted text style so we can see it as it is, and not as interpreted html.

Regards,
Bruno

Hi,
So…next one
http://pressto.amu.edu.pl/index.php/pss/article/view/970

penultimate position in References is:

Townsley E., 2001, The Sixties Trope, „Theory, Culture and Society” br. 6, , 20.05.2009.

In EDIT METADATA

HTML code:

Peter

What I meant was to check the markup you enter into the references field, and not how it is displayed… :smile:

Thanks,
Bruno

It`s html code from my Reference (I add TinyMCE to field References and click HTML):

@karwas,

You should use HTML to describe a link inside the references field. Instead of just:

<http://tcs.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/18/6/99>

You should have:

<a href="http://tcs.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/18/6/99">Text here</a>

@karwas,

Sorry the slowness :smile:

Try this:

&#60;http://tcs.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/18/6/99, 20.05.2009&#62;

Using HTML code for < (&#60;) and > (&#62;) you can avoid the HTML restriction, and we don’t need to add < > into the accepted tags, as it would make everything valid and the check useless.

The codes are not pretty, but they are just for the < > characters, that are also used in HTML tags.

Thanks for your patience,
Bruno

:smile:
Not: & # 6 2 ;
But: & l t ;
But this is it
Thanks Bruno

Hi Beghelli

I found this topic since I have similar problem. Here is my case in OJS 2.4.8.0:

I have in my config:

allowed_html = "<a href|target> <em> <strong> <cite> <code> <ul> <ol> <li> <dl> <dt> <dd> <b> <i> <u> <img src|alt> <sup> <sub> <br> <p>"

I have this in my reference field:

<p>Begossi A, Salivonchyk SV, Araujo LG, Andreoli TB, Clauzet M, Martinelli CM, Ferreira AGL, Oliveira LEC, Silvano RAM. 2011. Ethnobiology of snappers (Lutjanidae): target species and suggestions for management. Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine 7(11): 1-22 <a href="https://doi.org/10.1186/1746-4269-7-11" target="_blank">https://doi.org/10.1186/1746-4269-7-11</a></p>

I get this in the html view:

<p>Begossi A, Salivonchyk SV, Araujo LG, Andreoli TB, Clauzet M, Martinelli CM, Ferreira AGL, Oliveira LEC, Silvano RAM. 2011. Ethnobiology of snappers (Lutjanidae): target species and suggestions for management. Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine 7(11): 1-22 <a href="https://doi.org/10.1186/1746-4269-7-11">https://doi.org/10.1186/1746-4269-7-11</a></p>

The a target stripped out from html. How to solve this.

The “target” attribute is special. See this thread:

Thank you again Clinton,
I tried to search in the forum before but did not found this solution.

Best wishes,
