I hope this is the right place to ask. I’m relatively new to OJS and am currently having trouble generating a DOI in the copyediting stage on our test system (OJS 3.5.0.1). The project managers at our institute want the DOI generated at this stage so they can then include it in the PDF file.
I have adjusted the settings accordingly (see screenshot), but no DOI is generated when articles reach the copyediting stage.
In the meantime, I’ve also reduced the custom-doi to the absolute minimum to minimize potential errors and I tried assigning each article to an issue and including the issue’s volume and number in the custom DOI also resulted in the same outcome.
Unfortunately, I can’t find any error messages about this in the logs either.
As a test, I switched the mode to “Upon Publication” and a DOI is assigned immediately. That means the DOI assignment process itself is working, and it’s not a problem with the plugin, as I initially thought.
Has anyone else had a similar problem, or can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?
