[OJS 2.4.8-3] Select Reviewer - very, very long delay!

I have two recently upgraded sites:
Site 1 (upgraded from OJS 2.3.7 to OJS 2.4.8-3, ~400 reviewers);
Site 2 (upgraded from OJS 2.4.2 to OJS 2.4.8-3, ~100 reviewers);

After upgrading, the reviewer selection page for the selected article (in Editor role) appears after 5 minutes for Site 1 and after 2 minutes for Site 2. Before upgrading delays were 3-5 seconds.

It should be noted that the list of the reviewers in the Journal Manager role is still generated quickly.

How can I solve this problem?

Hi @besmobile,

This is related to a query that fetches information on reviewers, which in some situations can take a log time. We’re about to release OJS 3.1.1 (this week), and it’ll be resolved in that version.

Dear Alec,

Thank you for your reply. I will try the new version. Is it now possible to speed up the execution of the query?

Hi @besmobile,

You may be able to create an index or two to accomplish this – but the work that’s gone into the next release isn’t easily back-ported to the current stable branch. It’s a pretty major rework of the reviewer selection toolset. (You’ll like it, I promise.) If you can survive for a week, the upgrade shouldn’t be onerous.

OK, Alec, thanks! I hope that my editors will be able to wait :slight_smile:
