A doubt has come up while communicating with authors.
I need to be sure that using the form within the Author/Editor correspondence window is sent to the authors via email or not.

It’s the window that opens when the Editor views the correspondence with authors. Within that popup window there’s a form for comments. I was wondering if those comments are sent via e-mail or not, or just saved on the database.

Most of those pop-ups have both “Save” and “Save and Email” buttons. If you just hit save, the comment will not be emailed. But without knowing where you are specifically, that’s all the guidance I can give.

Here’s a screenshot, in Portuguese.
There’s only “save” and “cancel” buttons.
This popups is displayed when clicking the balloon icon on the Editor Decision area, next to Editor/author correspondence email icon and text. This icon does open an email form.

No, those comments aren’t emailed; if you want to send an email, use the mail icon to the left of the comment box that opens this pop-up.
