Currently, yes, thatās how it works. We could probably consider an approach whereby the userās set of indicated languages is compared against the list available based on the journal settings, and an appropriate match is chosen, but Iād worry that Journal Managers are likely to fine-tune wording only on the primary language, so they might not be aware that emails are going out in other languages with the āstockā OJS wording. This is related to another recent question on the forum:

Context : OJS 3.1.2-4
Are automated reminders still sent in the journalās default language? Or is the (automated) emailās language picked from the userās profile (when set)? Or else? Same behavior expected for OJS 3.2?
Thank you.

Hi @Marie-Helene,
Automated emails are still sent in the journalās default language; this is unchanged up to and including OJS 3.2.0. Itās definitely an area for future improvement but that work hasnāt been scheduled against a specific release yet.
