Issue galley language - can only be set to a UI language?

Hey,

One of our journals has the user interface in OJS 3.3.0.13 set to English and Norwegian, but has submission language set to English, Norwegian and other languages including Simplified Chinese.

The next issue comprises articles chiefly in Chinese and the language of article galleys has been set accordingly.

But when I create an issue galley, I can only choose between the UI languages, English and Norwegian. Should it not be possible to set the language of an issue galley as one of the submission languages?

Hi @huw,

Interesting, what do your settings look like in Administration → Hosted Journals → Settings. I had a journal that looked like this:

And was able to select an issue galley with all three languages - but the settings here might make a different, I’m thinking that it is the “submissions” that might determine whether or this is available.

Hi there @rcgillis,

Ta for this!

Here’s what it looks like in Administration>Hosted Journals>Settings Wizard:

Matches what we the journal has under Settings>Website>Setup>Languages.

And here are the language options we have for the galley:

Hi @huw,

Thanks for the additional info - I’m checking with our developers as to whether or not the UI language affects whether an Issue galley can be set as a particular locale.

Hi @huw,

Issue galleys are likely to remain a slightly underdeveloped feature, for reasons I describe here; I’d be open to ideas on how to change the language configuration be more accommodating, but we’re unlikely to be able to prioritize it among other development work. I’d welcome a pull request to expand its capabilities if you’re able.
