Issue Data Identification Errors in OJS 3.5

Describe the issue or problem

Hello, we are getting ready to launch a new (to us) journal on OJS 3.5. The journal has been publishing annually with another publisher for 30+ years until 2024 (Vol. 38). They did not publish in 2025 as they worked on transferring the journal to us (their new publisher). Instead, they will publish a double issue this summer (Vol. 39-40, 2025-2026). Seems simple enough. However, when I attempt to create a new issue in OJS and add this information to the Issue Data, I am prompted with a Volume field error that reads “Volume is required and must be a positive, numeric value.” In other words, I can only add a single Volume number. Additionally, it will only allow a single year (e.g. 2026) to be entered in the Year field; it will not allow 2025-26, 2025-2026, or any other combination:

Is there a setting I can adjust or way to override this?

Thank you.

I think publishing a “double issue” creates a problem not only in this area, but in many others, such as, for example, which SEO to use for a double issue? Wouldn’t it be possible to publish only issue n.39, unifying them into a single issue? Why? In the description, you could state that these are compiled articles from both years.

Best regards.
