Is JATS Parser Plugin compatible with the new OJS 3.3?

Hello everybody.

Did anyone already check the @Vitaliy’s JATS Parser Plugin (GitHub - Vitaliy-1/JATSParserPlugin: OJS3 Plugin for parsing JATS XML and displaying it on article detail page) with the new OJS 3.3 version?

Does anyone know if the plugin works with this very recent laste OJS version?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rino

I replay to myself here hoping that this could help someone else.

I just tried to use the last available release of JatsParser plugin,
(version 2.1.9-2 available here Release 2.1.9-2 · Vitaliy-1/JATSParserPlugin · GitHub)
with OJS 3.3.0-3.
The result is that in the OJS backend, page Settings Website > Plugins, the “Installed Plugins” do not show the expected listo of plugins.

In the PHP error log I’ve found the following error:
[18-Feb-2021 12:21:28 UTC] PHP Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/path/to/web/doc-root/lib/pkp/classes/file/SubmissionFileManager.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php') in /var/www/vhosts/www.actaitalica.it/lib/pkp/includes/functions.inc.php on line 25

I suppose that this error depends on the refactoring of submission file management announced in the OJS 3.3 release note and described here:
https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/dev/release-notebooks/en/3.3-release-notebook#submission-files

@Vitaliy do you already have plans for upgrading the plug-in for OJS 3.3 compatibility?

Hi @razzi,

Yes, it’s a work in progress. In 3.3 there were major changes introduced on handling file uploads which should be reflected in the plugin.

Hi @Vitaliy
Thanks a lot for the feedback and for the great work you do with this plug-in.
I saw the complete refactoring of the file uploading interface (really a huge improuvement of UX, by the way!)
Do you have an idea about when the new 3.3 compatible version will be ready?
I’m working on the upgrade from 3.1 of a few OJS installations where your plug-in is used.
I have to decide whether to do an upgrade to 3.2 now and a new one in the next months or
waiting for a direct upgrade to 3.3.
