Hello,
I’m looking to set up Open Journal Systems (OJS) version 3.4.0.7 alongside an existing WordPress site. Our hosting is currently limited to a managed WordPress environment (through WordPress.com), and we do not have cPanel or server-level access.
Is there any way to run OJS 3.4.0.7 on this kind of hosting setup, or does OJS require a more flexible server environment with direct access (e.g., cPanel or SSH)? Are there any plugins, integrations, or workarounds that would allow OJS to function within a WordPress-only hosting environment?
Thank you for any insights or suggestions!
Hello @bilalelkhouly
Setting up Open Journal Systems (OJS) on a managed WordPress hosting environment (like WordPress.com) can be quite challenging. OJS generally requires a server environment where you have control over PHP versions, file permissions, and database management—features that are typically not available on managed WordPress hosting plans.
To fully manage both OJS and your WordPress site together, you might consider moving to a new hosting solution that supports OJS requirements. This way, you can use both OJS and WordPress on the same server with complete control over both platforms.
