IP Access Not Working

If a someone is accessing an OJS journal from IP 128.103.149.52

Can someone tell me why the range as entered does not work: 128.103.0.0 - 128.103.255.255

128.103.. works…but the other should too.

Is there a mode detailed piece of documentation on IP range entires?

Thanks!

OJS 2.4.8

Hi @radjr,

I wonder whether the account that’s not working is getting the wrong IP address picked up by OJS. Follow the directions on this other thread to see what IP addresses that client is supplying to OJS – perhaps it’s not in the 128.103 range (e.g. due to a proxy address being supplied).

Thanks. that is my other thread on access issues. The problem is finding the proper log file on a Virtual Private Server…as it seems to be somewhere else than were it should be!

Bottom line is that the IP from the machine (confirmed with user) is 128.103.149.52 hence my question.

Thank you!

Hi @radjr,

The issue is not what the user reports their IP to be, but what OJS thinks it is. That information should be captured in the access log – I don’t know about your server in particular, but access and error logs are a basic piece of any hosting service and it’s pretty rare for one not to have a log like this.
