How to handle high TTFB in OJS3.1.2?

Hello,
Our OJS3 is having serious performance issues with its javascript interface, like the profile page.

The client requests seams to be waiting forever to get a response from the server side, even though there is no high load on the server.

Any idea of what is going on?

Was this ever resolved for you? I have a TTFB of around 1.7 seconds pretty consistently, and trying to determine if it my host or OJS itself. Version 3.2.1.2
