Failing to deposit DOIs to Crossref in 3.4.0

Failing to deposit DOIs to Crossref in 3.4.0 after upgrading from 3.3
I upgraded a client’s OJS to 3.4.0 a few days ago but now when they try to deposit DOIs to Crossref this is what happens:

Steps I took leading up to the issue

  1. Go to ‘DOIs’
    Go to DOI

  2. Select an ‘Article’

    Selected the article

  3. When I add DOI on the article I get this error
    Failed-DOIs

  4. And when I submit article to Crossref this is what I see
    crossref failed

Current OJS version?
OJS 3.4.0.5

Please assist if anyone has had experience with this issue, we have tried to contact Crossref Support to no avail they also state on their knowledgebase that they did not develop the OJS plugin.
