Does OJS 3.2.1.3 work with PHP 7.4?

Application Version:

  • Currently OJS 3.2.1.3 running with PHP 7.2
  • Planned migration to new environment with PHP 7.4
  • Planned upgrade to OJS 3.3.1.x

Open questions:

  • We want to migrate our OJS-multijournal-instance to a new environment which comes with PHP 7.4 - are there any known issues or other problems we should expect in this scenario?
  • Did anybody switch versions without doing an upgrade?
  • Would it be wiser to combine migration and upgrade to OJS 3.3.1.x? And if yes, should we first do the OJS-upgrade and then migrate to the new environment with PHP 7.4 or first migrate and then upgrade?

Hi @ojs_univie

Yes, it should. One of our PKP|PS servers runs PHP 7.4 and we host a variety of OJS3 versions on it, including 3.2 and 3.3. You should be able to switch from 7.2 to 7.4 without doing anything to your OJS installation.
