Crossref export plugin does not export the data in the original language

CrossRef is considering adding support for multilingual metadata, if this is important for you, please upvote it here: Trello

It’s sad the multilingual metadata in OJS appear to be only for human consumption – it doesn’t seem to be indexed by Google nor deposited in CrossRef.

Hi @primozs, The citation_title metadata field is Google Scholar-specific, and doesn’t support xml:lang. I’m not sure what would happen if we were to add it, but it wouldn’t properly support multiple languages with Google Scholar until they changed the implementation on their end. Hi @lcmartinezru, There are two “primary locale” settings at play – the one for the journal, which it sounds like you’re using Spanish; and the one for the article itself, which it sounds like some authors are choosing English for and others are using Spanish. The CrossRef plugin should be using the article’s primary locale as the language for deposit.
