I have a question about the How to Cite feature. Let’s say we have a journal called “Library Research” that runs to volume 50. Beginning with Volume 51, we change the journal name to “Library and Museum Research.” We consider this to be the same journal, and it continues the numeration where Library Research left off.
Is there a way for the How to Cite feature to differentiate between the two variations of the title? For example, the website will be called “Library and Museum Research” since that is the current title. When someone cites an article from when the journal was called “Library Research,” the citation would say that the journal title is “Library Research.” And when someone cites an article from when the journal was called “Library and Museum Research,” the citation would say that the journal title is “Library and Museum Research.”
I am not entirely sure if this is proper journal procedures. I believe if you change the title, you need a new ISSN. Would it be proper to consider them separate journals, change the title, give it a new ISSN, and start the numeration over with the new title?
