Can an editor assign an article to an author?

Hi everyone. This is my first post so please bear with me.

I would like an editor to be able to assign an author to an article. Then, the author would have the possibility to submit files, metadata etc that will get reviewed and go through the workflow.

I’ve tried doing it but when I log in as the author, I’m not allowed to edit/upload text (no permission error message).

Can this be done?

That is not possible directly, however, there is a workaround: The journal editor can use the feature “Login as” and logins as an author and submits an article in the name of the author.

HI @Morisyen,

Generally, authors are only allowed to upload revised files once a decision has been rendered. As well, depending on the version of OJS you are using authors can also be granted permission to make metadata edits (available in OJS 3.3).
