To use PHP mail instead of smtp, you need to edit config.inc.php file and put semicolon before all the smtp parameters. see example below:

I haven’t found a definition from Google regarding what it considers “less secure apps”, but I wonder if any application which using username/password auth instead of OAuth might now count.
If you are getting a “password incorrect” response from SMTP, but you are sure the username and password are correct, it might be this setting:

The message “OJS SMTPMailer: Could not authenticate” indicates you are using OJS 2.x. What specific version are you working with?
If you are comfortable with PHP, you might get more useful debugging information if you modify SMTPMailer::receiveData() to log the message received when returning false.

@rizki Have you check with your hosting provider the status of your SMTP port? Is it close or open?
Anyway, your question title is about using PHP mail and not SMTP mail. I think you would have a better chance if you use PHP mail, at least my experience said so.
If you’re going to use PHP mail, make sure all the SMTP parameters are comment off and use email with your journal domain as the default_envelope_sender. This is to avoid the spoofing trap in your hosting. see example below. hope this helps.

saya belum pernah mengunakan php mail, bagaimana caranya :
