Describe the issue or problem
A user who has the roles “Author” and “Reader” is unable to add a revised version of their article to their original submission after editors selected “revisions needed” in the workflow. When they try to upload the revisions, they get an error message reading “The current role does not have access to this operation.” I’ve double checked and the Author role has the correct settings applied. I don’t think the presence of the Reader role should negate those settings, right?
Steps I took leading up to the issue
Create a submission and move it to the review stage.
-
Click on Request Revisions, select resubmit for review, and save.
-
Login as the author
-
Click the Add File link in the revisions grid.
-
See authorization error.
What application are you using?
OJS 3.3.0-20
Hi @ramolin3,
Are you able to check your PHP error logs and report on errors found there?

We’ve checked the logs around the time the author sent the email letting the editor know about the problem and there aren’t any errors recorded. I also have tried to replicate this in our test journal with the same user settings as the author, but it let me attach a “revised” version just fine after the decision for revisions was made.
Hi @ramolin3,
Does the author have access to the publishing stage in your workflow settings?

Yes, they have both the Author role, which has access to all the stages, and the Reader role, which doesn’t have access to any stages. I don’t know that the Reader role would overrule the Author role in permissions, though.
Hi @ramolin3,
Thanks for looking into that. I’m not sure what to suggest at this point. Hopefully another team or community member will be able to comment with suggestions.
