I’m trying to figure out if this is normal behavior or a glitch.
I am a journal manager and recently clicked “login as” for an author on a submission where a review had been submitted, but the editor did not yet make a decision.
I was surprised to see that the author is able to read the review before the editor has made a decision.
Is this normal behavior or a glitch of some kind? I feel like the review shouldn’t be accessible to the author until the editor has made a decision.
In the attached image, the Editor Decision notification is just the notification it was sent for review. In this case the Editor has not made a decision yet based on the review.
Do you know if the author has other roles associated with their account (e.g. editor, section editor) - I just wanted to rule that out, before looking further.
Hi @jhertzberg
Since the journal’s (or of that article) peer-review policy has been configured as open review, this is the expected behaviour.
I can confirm that the author can see the reviewer identity and his/her recommandations before the editorial decision has been recorded on my test journal too.

Thank you! I wasn’t sure if this was normal behavior but I guess I know now that it is. Still don’t like the author seeing the review before the editor makes a decision, but at least I know it’s not a glitch.
