We are using OJS 3.3.0.8, and we have 2 test journals, which we use for testing all manner of things. These journals are not public, and in the distribution settings - Publishing mode, we have selected “OJS will not be used to publish the journal’s contents online,” and OAI is disabled.
Yet, when we publish test articles in these journals, the articles appear in searches done on the platform. We did not expect this to be the case.
We can, of course, unpublish each test article after we publish it, but should we have to do that? Is there some other setting we need to change so that these articles don’t show up in searches done on the platform?
One potential way around this is to put test articles in a specific section for which you select the “Will not be included in the indexing of the journal” setting.
