Describe the issue or problem
Hi, I am trying to archive the contents of Kadmos. A Journal of the Humanities (Print ISSN: 1987-8788; Online ISSN: 2449-3147). We are using OJS 3.3.0.7. However, for several days now, PKP PN Status has displayed “The PKP PLN can accept deposits from this journal”, along with a circling loading icon. The status has not changed to Pending or In Progress. Is this normal or is there something else I should do in OJS? Thank you in advance.
Steps I took leading up to the issue
I enabled PKP PN Preservation; 2) enabled LOCKSS and CLOCKSS; 3) accepted the Terms of Use in PKP PN Plugin Settings; and 4) saved the settings.
What application are you using?
For example, OJS 3.3.0.7.
The spinning “loading” message suggests there might be something happening on your server - could you check your PHP error message logs and report back on errors found there?
I have insatlled a PKP PN plugin for my journal Allied Medical Research Journal but it is still showing after almost 2 weeks that “Network Status: The PKP PLN does not know about this journal yet”. Kindly help me on this
Thanks for raising this topic. I have been running a journal for 14 years (Sociobiology). We have already published 56 issues online. I set up issue archiving in PKP PN over 4 years. However, only 60% of issues have the status “Complete”. I have reset the archiving for the unarchived issues several times, but no success. Does anyone have an explanation for this disparity in the archiving of different issues?
Hello, I am working with @Elene on this issue. The issue was fixed in OJS version 3.3.0.7. I updated the journal first to version 3.3.0.16, then to 3.4.0.5 and finally to version 3.4.0.9. Unfortunately, the issue did not go away, and PHP log files provide a large amount of data and are not easy to read. Added to this issue is that when clicking on the plugin Settings, the error shown in the screenshot appears.
Please, if you have had experience with this type of issue, help us.
HI @jonasraoni, we have trouble with the deposit of the journal MUSIQUES (https://revues.ulaval.ca/ojs/index.php/musiques/) in PKP PN, issues are stuck either in Pending or In progress status but is never completed. I have resubmit several times since september 2025.
I’ll answer everybody here, but next time please open a new topic to decrease the noise.
@Elene/@Dimitri_Gogelia Thanks for the feedback! Please access the settings again, it should generate some messages on the error log, share them with me and I’ll be able to understand the problem.
@alifarhad1 I’ve just checked your journal and it should be ok, are you still seeing this message?
@ensilva If you tell me the URL of your journal, I might check what’s happening. For now I just can say that it could be due to a bug on your OJS (upgrading should solve it) or perhaps your deposit is above our current limit (I’ll try to drop it, but it will take some time, it requires changes on both OJS and the PKP PN) of 1GB.
@pilas I can confirm these two issues are already preserved. So please, check if the PKP PN task is running (it’s possible another task that runs before the PKP PN is failing and breaking the process, the task processing wasn’t fail-proof and should be better starting at OJS 3.5). If it’s running, then please, provide me the task log (you can find files starting with Depositor- on the folder {$files_dir}/scheduledTaskLogs/), I’ll just need the latest one.
@ensilva I’ve just checked and the failed deposits were broken. I mean, your OJS generated a bad package… I’ve corrected a lot of old problems in the plugin and in OJS, so it’s very possible that upgrading your OJS to the latest 3.3 release (3.3.0-22) might be enough to fix, if not, there’s just one extra problem that I didn’t handle yet (submissions without an author will fail).
p.s.: You’d better upgrade to 3.5 soon, given that both 3.3 and 3.4 will lose support in around 1-2 years
When you say “(submissions without an author will fail)”, does a submission refer to an article submission or the authorship of a system user for executing the PKP PN Puglin deposit task?
I am in charge of checking metadata before article publication and am sure no article is published without authorship information.
I will wait for the LTS designation for a 3.5 version before updating OJS.
