Hi @mfernway,
We’re unlikely to add a field like “indigenous affiliation” to OJS, but there are a few related efforts I’ll link…
- Lepidus has a plugin called “DEIA Survey” that’s available in the Plugin Gallery. You can read about it here.
- How to add two new fields for users
- How can I add a required field in New User Registration Form?
- [OJS 3.1.2] Modify register user
- Add New fields inside Edit User option in Users and Roles
Some of these forum discussions talk about the process for editing the code to add a new field. How you do that will depend heavily on what version of OJS you’re running.
The reason we’re hesitant to add fields like this is because it’s only relevant to a very small part of our global community, and there is nowhere in OJS for that data to be used – it would only be visible to the Editor. We’re more likely to add metadata fields that play a role in downstream consumers of metadata like JATS, CrossRef, etc.
Thanks,
Alec Smecher
