Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a way to add additional affiliation fields in the OJS user profile/author details. In particular, I’d like authors to be able to include an Indigenous affiliation alongside their institutional one.
Is there a recommended method or plugin for adding extra affiliation lines? And if not, is this something PKP might consider supporting in a future release?
Thanks for any guidance.
Hi @mfernway
Thank you for your feature request. That’s an interesting use case for the affiliation field.

Hi @mfernway,
We’re unlikely to add a field like “indigenous affiliation” to OJS, but there are a few related efforts I’ll link…
Some of these forum discussions talk about the process for editing the code to add a new field. How you do that will depend heavily on what version of OJS you’re running.
The reason we’re hesitant to add fields like this is because it’s only relevant to a very small part of our global community, and there is nowhere in OJS for that data to be used – it would only be visible to the Editor. We’re more likely to add metadata fields that play a role in downstream consumers of metadata like JATS, CrossRef, etc.
Thanks,
Alec Smecher
