"404 not found"-error message after migration vom 2.4 to 3.1

Hi all,

we successfully migrated five journals from 2.4 to 3.1. Unfortunately our last journal causes major troubles: after successful migration (via command line) we get a “404 Not Found”, instead of the index page of our journal.

The Apache configuration seems to be ok, at least there is no difference to the other journals.
In the apache log files some error messages are shown:

Hi @akku

All journals have its own installation?
The warnings are not so important, but it seems like something is wrong with the database – as it was not totally successfully upgraded. Did you see any warnings during the upgrade process? How did you do the DB upgrade, via a command line on using the UI?

thank you for your reply. Each journal has its own installation.
We also think, that something with the database is not okay, but we can’t locate the error. I did the upgrade first via the command line and next time via the GUI, then I got this error message ojs_upgrade_db_error

What is also strange: after some trials I received access to a “general” ojs installation and gthj was the only journal which was implemented. Unfortunatly my colleagues still only received error messages.

Hmmm… yes, strange…
Do you always clean the DB and start with the clean backup from OJS 2.4.x (DB and files folder) before starting an upgrade?

what do you mean: “clean” backup? I work with the newest dump, which I “fill into” the the newly created database on our new server

Yes, I mean: if you do an upgrade and it fails, then to start/test the upgrade again you would need to remove the DB and files from that failed upgrade and create a new, clean DB and files with the OJS 2.4.x backup and start a new upgrade on that data – you should not start the second upgrade on the DB and files from the upgrade that failed…

Yes, I always drop the old db and create a new db, which I “fill” with the db-dump from the old system.

no, but the files didn’t change the last month

the upgrade reorders and renames the files in the files folder, thus, for every upgrade attempt you should use the copy of the original OJS 2.4.x files folder. maybe that’s why the file missing warnings above occured – because the upgrade script expects them to be at the original 2.4.x place but if they were already renamed and/or moved, it will not find them…

At least something has changed, I don’t get a 404 error message anymore, but the journal index site looks quite strange and when logging in as admin, this is all I can see:

Hmm… Those notices and warnings do not mean anything important.
Would it be maybe possible for you to try that all again but from a command line? Sorry – I’ve never used the UI-Upgrade so I am not so familiar with that…
In the command line upgrade, if something goes wrong you can also see roughly where in the upgrade process it happens…

Ah, those declaration warnings are just warnings about the syntax… An error message in the log file would be important…
When doing the upgrade via command line, the output on the command line is important, also if it is a warning…

we use mysql and on our new server we make use of the driver ‘mysqli’.
In my last post I didn’t send the whole install-protocol, but it seems to me that everything is included.
