How to hide a submission from another editor

We are relatively new to OJS. We created an editorial board with a couple of
dozen editors and made some of them section editors. We also added a few dozen more section editors (due to special issues). Currently, we have the problem that one of the editors has submitted a paper but the section editors receiving the submission cannot figure out how to prevent the editor from seeing reviews without disabling the editor (I would do that as journal manager). Is there any way we can do that? Disabling is not an option as the editor could then not login in any role.

Hi @francojv2001,

You would need to enroll that user as a Section Editor and remove them from Editor, Journal Manager, and Site Administrator roles, if they have any of those. Section Editors are only able to work with content they’ve been assigned to.

Does OJS have a way to deal with the possibility that a section editor
submits to his or her section? All of our sections have at least two
section editors so your proposed solution would not work, I believe.

Hi @francojv2001,

When a single Section Editor is assigned to a section, then submissions that come in for that section are automatically assigned to that Section Editor. This does not apply if more than one Section Editor is assigned to the section, and you can always edit assignments after the submission has come in by going to the Submission page as Editor.
