Are you having any general trouble saving settings, e.g. when the setting is changed it seems to sometimes revert back to a previous version? If that’s the case, you might be having trouble with file permissions in your cache directory. Issues with permissions are reviewed here: How should file permissions be set?
(I am not certain this is what’s happening, but it’s possible.)
