Last year, we published a blog post announcing our decision to cease development on Open Conference Systems for a year while we dedicated our limited resources to Open Journal Systems and Open Monograph Press development. As that year comes to an end, we have made the decision to continue the freeze for another year.
Although this will be disappointing news for our small but dedicated OCS community, the reason is that we have received some significant grant funding (thanks again, CFI) which focuses on OJS development.
As a small development team (with big responsibilities), we often need to make difficult decisions on what to prioritize (and what to de-prioritize), and an influx of funding is an important factor in determining what to work on next.
This is a long way of explaining that there will not, unfortunately, be an OCS 3 this year, but we continue to keep it on our long-term road map for eventual development.
