OER for OJS - Canvas or other?

Hello, everyone. Has anyone developed (or is anyone aware of) an OER for training new journal editors/staffers to use OJS? I am considering creating something in Canvas for our users and would love to know of what may be available outside of the (great!) PKP documentation.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @ej2432,

I suspect you’re familiar with the PKP school: https://pkpschool.sfu.ca?

York University in Canada has produced some OER materials: vhttps://pressbooks.library.yorku.ca/ojsforydj/

I don’t think it is technically OER, because I didn’t spot a CC license, but U Alberta has some stuff: Publishing a Journal with UAL - Journal Publishing Guide - Subject Guides at University of Alberta Libraries

Florida Open Journals has some resource: Onboarding and Training - Florida Online Journals (OJ) - LibGuides at Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC)

That’s just a few off the top of my head. Not all are full-fledged OER resources, but have elements of such.

Thanks, @rcgillis. This is wonderful! I want to create something with interactive quizzes that our new journal staffers will have to complete in order to be given dashboard access. Is PKP School something that could do this?

Hi @ej2432,

Actually, on further investigation, PKP school is currently undergoing a review, which is detailed here: https://pkpschool.sfu.ca/about/temporary-changes-and-review-of-pkp-school/

There are various evaluative activities that are part of the courses, like this one:

https://pkpschool.sfu.ca/courses/becoming-an-editor/

I suppose that you could have staffers complete the course and then do your own quizzes based on the course content, perhaps?

PKP School content is CC-licensed, so it can be re-used, if you were looking to develop your own version, however, I’m not sure there is any easy way to extract the content.
