Describe the problem you would like to solve
The filenames downloaded, maintaining the name on the computer of authors, has no sense and makes difficult the editorial management, specially for people who work with multiple journals like me. ej. article-robert-smith-for-review-final-version-v5-.with-corrections-of-anne-on-sunday-v7.doc"
Describe the solution you’d like
Use the former format of filenames, ej.
6064-articletext-29031-1-6-20240219.doc
I would add the initials of the journal, to help people who works with multiple journals. ej. (for “Enseñanza de las Ciencias”):
EC-6064-articletext-29031-1-6-20240219.doc
Who is asking for this feature?
Editors, editorial management, authors, reviewers, etc. btw, reviewers can see the filename, and it is possible that authors send the file with their own name, breaking the double blind. ej.
Additional information
I’m aware that some users complained and the topic is “closed”(1, 2. I think it shouldn’t be closed nor ignored, as it is very important for the day to day of people who work full time with journals.
I’m also aware that there is an unofficial plugin. At least, PKP should review it, make it official and maintain it so the workers can manage dozens of files on a daily basis without confusing them, or having the possibility to locate the paper related to an specific file, with the ID., etc.
Thanks
