Interest areas hidden in "+ More User Details" so the field is often left blank

We have discovered that approximately 1/3 of our erstwhile “reviewers” have no interest areas listed, with the result that they are never asked to review manuscripts. We get many users who tick the “Reviewer” box when they fill in the form, but they have ignored the “More User Details” section which is hidden by default.

This issue could be remedied in a number of ways:

  1. Force the “More User Details” section to be displayed, rather than hidden by default,
  2. Change the “More User Details” label to something more descriptive like “More details – interest areas, etc.” (The word “user” is actually redundant.) I attempted to change the text but could not find it in the “en” local.
  3. Force a pop-up when “reviewer” is ticked but the “Reviewing interests” block is empty

Am I the only person who has this problem? Can anyone suggest a remedy? @rcgillis @asmecher

Hi @trobb49,

Thanks for your post. I don’t believe there is a way to do this within OJS or with a plugin, so it would be best if this was listed as a feature request. We are trying to make all first “Feature Request” posts follow same structure to facilitate the understanding of the petitions and at same time, will ensure no relevant info is missing.

Could you please edit your first post to follow this template:
