Describe the problem you would like to solve
When composing emails in OJS – if including CC or bCC – users must manually type full email addresses into the recipient fields. This impedes proper communication as users either do not include the emails because they are not familiar with them and do not want to look them up or they enter them incorrectly. OJS instances contain a user database, but the email fields do not leverage it.
Describe the solution you’d like
Enable auto‑complete for all email address fields in OJS. As a user begins typing a name or email address, OJS should automatically suggest matching entries from the journal’s user database (Editors, Reviewers, Authors, etc.). This would function similarly to auto‑complete in modern email clients: type a few characters, see a dropdown of matching users, and select the correct one.
Who is asking for this feature?
Journal Editors, Managing Editors, Journal Administrators, Section Editors, Production Staff, and Technical Support teams who rely on OJS for daily communication and need faster, more reliable email workflows.
