Change the Information Message for Authors

Ambiguous Message for Authors

Problem Description: When Authors attempt to submit articles while submissions are disabled, they encounter a misleading message instructing them to visit workflow settings. This journal is not accepting submissions at this time. Visit the workflow settings to allow submissions. This message creates confusion as Authors do not have the necessary permissions to modify submission settings.

Proposed Solution:

  1. Authors’ Experience:
  • When Authors attempt to submit during a disabled submission period, display a more user-friendly message such as: “Submissions are currently closed. Please contact the journal’s editorial office for more information.”
  1. Editors’ Experience:
  • Retain the existing message for Editors, as it appropriately directs them to the workflow settings where they can manage submission permissions.

Expected Outcome: By revising the message for Authors and maintaining clarity for Editors, we can enhance the user experience and reduce confusion among users attempting to submit articles during closed submission periods.

Requesting Feature Implementation: Authors and Editors alike would benefit from this improvement to the submission process, ensuring that messages are tailored appropriately based on user roles and permissions.
