Describe the problem you would like to solve
Our editors and staff frequently lose drafted messages in OMP’s internal discussion system when the browser window is closed unexpectedly, the user switches tabs, the session expires, or there is a temporary loss of internet connectivity. Currently, there is no mechanism to preserve partially written messages, which leads to lost work, frustration, and repeated effort.
Describe the solution you’d like
We would like OMP to implement an automatic draft-saving (autosave) feature for internal discussion messages. Drafts should be saved locally in the user’s browser (for example, using local storage or a similar client-side approach) while the user is typing. When the discussion window is reopened, the system should restore the last saved draft automatically.
Who is asking for this feature?
Editors, Section Editors, Copyeditors, and Editorial Assistants.
Additional information
This functionality is common in modern web-based communication tools and would significantly improve usability, reliability, and user confidence when working within OMP’s editorial workflows.
