How can an editor archive users of a journal? This has not been a standard practice (that I’m aware of), but I’ve been asked about it recently. What is the best practice? What would the process be…and would an Admin (myself) have to do it, or could the new Journal Manager archive users? Thank you in advance.

Interesting question, Tamara! First, it would be helpful to understand why you want to archive users. Are you looking to archive users within OJS, or are you aiming to archive them locally? If you clarify your goal and what you’re trying to achieve, we might be able to offer more specific guidance.
If the purpose is to remove users from active roles within OJS while retaining their data, you could deactivate the user or remove their roles. However, OJS doesn’t have a built-in ‘archive users’ feature as such. Deactivating users may serve as an alternative if you don’t want them participating in the journal but still need to keep their records.
Both an Admin (like yourself) and a new Journal Manager can perform these actions. Let us know more details, and we can help further!
Thank you!
I’m not sure why, but I’ll follow-up with the Journal Manager by posing these questions to her. Deactivating may be the best route to take in this situation. The Manager has 5 years of website experience, but is still learning OJS (as am I, 16 months on!)
