Our editors need a way to retain certain submissions in the system without publishing them and without marking them as rejected. Currently, the available submission statuses do not adequately represent manuscripts that must be preserved for record-keeping, historical reference, or potential future use, but are no longer part of the active editorial workflow.
Describe the solution you’d like
We would like OMP to include a new submission status called “Archived.” This status would allow editors to remove a manuscript from the active workflow while keeping all associated files, metadata, and discussion history accessible in the system. Archived submissions should be clearly distinguishable from rejected and published items.

Press Editors, Series Editors, Press Managers, and Journal/Press Administrators.
Additional information
The “Archived” status would improve organizational clarity and reduce misuse of the “Rejected” status for submissions that are not actually declined but simply inactive.
