Hi,
I am struggling with the Crossref Manager Plugin due to getting an error on OJS stating that the plugin requirements have not been met. We are running a single conference proceedings and do not wish to have an online or printed ISSN. As we have no plans to apply for an ISSN, how would we go about assigning DOIs to individual papers? We do have an ISBN for the proceedings but we are unsure of its usefulness in this situation. Is there any way to circumvent the ‘A journal ISSN has not been configured! You must add an ISSN on the Journal Settings Page’ error I encounter on OJS when I use the Crossref Manager Plugin?

I’m fairly certain having an ISSN is a requirement for depositing with Crossref. I don’t think there is a way around this. Crossref relies heavily on the ISSN as a means of validation,
I’d be curious to hear if anyone else has any idea for a way around this, though.

Crossref has several options for content registration outside of OJS: https://www.crossref.org/documentation/register-maintain-records/choose-content-registration-method/
Their web deposit form does not require ISSN for a single conference proceedings publication, only an ISBN: https://apps.crossref.org/webDeposit/ So this registration method might work for you.
It does require ISSN for conference proceedings that form a series.
