Users getting blocked when creating their account and submitting an article takes a lot of time to submit in ojs 3.3.0.20

Describe the issue or problem
Users are getting blocked when creating their accounts. They reported attempting multiple times because the website becomes slow when selecting “Create User,” and submitting an article takes an excessive amount of time.

Steps I took to troubleshoot up to the issue

  1. I did databse optimization only but the problem is still there

In cases as such as these, it is best to check your PHP error log for messages there. If unsure of how to do that, please see here: How do I find my PHP error log?

Feel free to post error log messages here once you’ve had a chance to look at them, as this will help community members here on the forum to better understand the issue that is occurring on your OJS instance.

  1. The system stopped sending a email notofication when a user submit an article.
  2. After a user has submitted an article. It will load like 6 minutes and eventually bring an error of " There was a problem sending an email message. Please try again later, or contact your system administrator" On user portal the system will not notify the submission was successful but when you go to submission you will find it was submitted.
  3. As you know user will now say the system is not working and will try to resubmit the same paper.
  4. The last time it send a notofication a user has submitted a paper was 28th Feb. Since then I have been receiving complains.
